Hey there, it’s Joy, and I’m beaming ear to ear over this article about Max Jones’ incredible journey! At 19, Max left a tough life in North Carolina, where his single mom worked endlessly, and took a bus to Richmond, Virginia, hoping for a fresh start.

But things got harder—he lived in his car, wearing the same joggers and unable to shower regularly, all while attending George Wythe High School and working at a restaurant.

I love how mentors and Pastor Robert Winfrey opened their hearts, giving him meals and a place to stay, helping him stay focused.

His hard work paid off with full scholarships to Paine College, Virginia Union, and Ohio State, and now he’s dreaming of giving back to everyone who helped him.
